I happened to find this site while I was looking back at the past on the web . There are some " flashbacks of the past " on this site . Every time I drive thru milford I think of the good time I had there and still look for familiar faces in town . It was a great place to grow up " even though I did get into some trouble with the boys ( Mr Stanley , Mr Spezzaferrii , Mr Coughlin and many others ) Keep up the good work on the site . Chris B

Bill Szarka | willzark@hotmail.com
Hi, great site. i grew up and lived in milford for 15 years, from 1971-1986. my father, Jay Szarka did a lot for the M.C.A.A. down at keyes field, i think was with the mcaa from the start, i used to work at the milford diner, the china star and the white horse inn. was so sad to see the pic of it on fire tonight, that place was a great place. like the site. was online loking for pics of the swinging bridge. our familt used to live at 11 orchard street and i have been over the swinging bridge 2,000 times in the 15 years i lived there. great little city, it's had it's share of problems. i will return someday to live there, i know every street in that town, well, in a radius of 2 miles from downtown. id the drive in theratre still there?? anyone remember going to the wilton theatre to watch all the new movies like "star wars" and "saturday Night fever" i saw both those movies there in 1976 and i think SNF was like 1979?? anyways, great site, great city, brings back a lot of memories.

Was great to find your site of pictures and people from Milford. I am gathering family history material, so this is wonderful to see. All my relatives lived in Milford from the early 1900s -- grandparents on mom's side -- Lucy (Trombly) who worked in mill and Joseph Bisson worked in quarry, my mom Rita, uncle Norman (Nig), aunt Coriene. And on my father's side, grandfather Harry O. (worked for Socony Oil) and Anne D. Buxton -- father Harry R, uncle Arthur, aunts Ruth and May.
The pictures seem familiar to me, full of the sights that my parents often spoke about, the swinging bridge they walked to and from school on, the friends like Harold and Dot Gautreau, The McEntees, Don Stimson, and others. The schoolteachers, like Ms French, Mr Parmenter, Ms Butler. Please send info or anecdotes if you or relatives knew my family as i am gathering history. Thank you for great site and news.

Sandra Philbrick Howard | BeholdHim777@wmconnect.com
Hi, how nice to have a website where you can stroll down memory lane.
I graduated in 1962 "Said & Done", Awesome class!
My family owned and operated Philbrick's Restaurant on Nashua St. Where everyone knew everyone and were always willing to lend a hand to help others. I had a childhood full of fond memories in a small town , back roads. riding horseback and being a kid. I hold tight to these memories when things get a bit rocky as life sometimes does.
Thanks Chris, you are doing a fine job!
Would love to hear from others.
Blessings, Sandi

I am enjoying the wonderful pics and postcards of Milford's history once again. May I make a suggestion about one of the captions? From picture 23, business & industry:
"The Souhegan Cotton Mill. This building was deystroyed by fire in 1872. It was on the North side of the river below the stone damn along Souhegan St."
Beware of homonyms--there's a difference between "dam" and "damn"!

Michael Frahme | mncfrahme@citlink.net
Hi.
I was born in Nashua in 1955 and lived in Milford
until I was 4 years old.
My family lived first on Summer Street
and then on Dearborn Street.
I was baptized at St. Patrick's Church.
My Dad (Charlie Frahme) was the manager
of the McClellen's 5c & 10c store for approx. 7 years.
My Mom (Dot Frahme)became active in some of
St Patrick's church groups.
Went back to Milford last week with my family (wife Cathy,
sons Cristian,15 and Tyler,11)
while celebrating my 50th birthday.
Went to Saturday Mass at St. Patrick's.
Sat behind a lady named Ann with an awesome singing voice!
Spoke with her after Mass. She mentioned a woman at church
named Evelyn who may have known my parents-didn't get
to speak with her.My parents later told me that
the head cashier at McClellen's was named Evelyn.
Same one??
If anyone remembers my parents, feel free to
e-mail them at: dotnchaz@webtv.net .
As I was 4 when we moved away (to NY) I don't remember much.
Names that I remember are the Glovers (neighborhood friends)
and Dr. Law (he delivered me.)
My entire family fell in love with Milford during
our short stay.
Retiring to Milford someday is not out of the question.
17 August 2005
